About The Island

On the island with the architect today plotting the final course for approx. 5 miles of walking nature trails. These trails will be a combination of elevated wood deck, over the wetlands and a sand shell mix for the remainder. we are trying to take into consideration as much of the unspoiled beauty of the area as possible. The trails are designed for use as physical therapy (jogging, walking, horseback), educational, (placard's detailing local flora and ecology will be placed throughout) and also secluded areas off the trail just to escape into the peaceful solitude.
The location for the spa and European bath house has also been carefully chosen, based on open water views and our determination to remove as few trees as possible. Overall we are very pleased with amount of progress made over the past few months but we still have a little ways to go. plans are being made for our other offerings including therapeutic pottery, horses and stables, organic farming, a 22 slip marina, a wind and solar farm for our power needs. camping areas and cabins, not to mention 120 residential units.
After all is complete we envision the island as "The North Carolina Health and Environmental Institute". Construction is expected to begin in October 2009. Currently all wetlands engineering is completed and we are in our final phase of design. We expect final approval this month.
